TRIAL PREPARATION

Unfortunately, there are times when families cannot alleviate the original issues that brought them into the system. When we feel it’s in the best interest of kids not to return home, we may have to advocate for the termination of parental rights. This often starts with mediation, but if the parents are not in a place to voluntarily relinquish their rights, sometimes cases do go to trial.

Below is a PDF with some general information to assist you in preparing for trial, but this does not apply to all programs. Please also refer to CASA-VFC’s guidance for trial preparation prior to your trial.
